ChatPDF is a web application that leverages AI to let users interact with and pull data from different document types like PDF, TXT, CSV, MD, DOCX, PPT, EXCEL, JPG, JPEG, PNG, JSON, and web pages.

The tool offers a chat-based interface for interacting with documentation in various formats. Its features include chatting with documents, web pages, Twitter, Slack, Github, Reddit, and Discord. ChatPDF uses Azure OpenAI Service to generate embedding vectors from documents and find the most relevant document to address user questions.

It uses AI models such as text-embedding-ada-002, GPT-3, and ChatGPT to pinpoint suitable answers to user questions. The tool also provides knowledge base management, covering indexing, sandboxing, data extraction, and document summarization. The application relies on an instruction-based model (like text-davinci-003) and chat-based deployment (text-embedding-ada-002, GPT-3, and gpt-35-turbo AI models) for Q&A and chat functions.

It works with users' existing online knowledge bases, enabling them to chat with and retrieve data from PDFs, TXT, JPEG, JPG, and PNG files in their repositories. For privacy, ChatPDF gathers personally identifiable information, authentication data, and website cookies.
