AI models can be inaccurate, and so can information online. The Free Fact Checker is a browser extension that allows you to instantly verify ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, social media posts, and your news using Google Search.
HOW IT WORKS
1 Highlight Text
Select text in an AI chat or on a web page, then use the right-click menu, keyboard shortcut, or click the toolbar icon to initiate a fact check.
2 Google Search Grounding
Your selected text is sent to Google's AI, which finds relevant data about it using Google Search. This process is known as grounding.
3 Get Cited Results
You receive a fact-check report complete with citations and sources. You will not receive an AI's opinion; instead, you get answers grounded in Google Search data.
GET STARTED
1 Install the Extension
Add the Free Fact Checker from the Chrome Web Store. It functions in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Arc, Opera, and any Chromium-based browser. The source code is also available for download and installation from GitHub.
2 Obtain a Free Gemini API Key
Get your free API key from Google AI Studio. This process takes approximately one minute.
3 Add Your Key
Open the extension settings and paste your API key. It will be verified automatically.
4 Begin Fact Checking
Highlight any statement in an AI chat or on any webpage and use the right-click menu, keyboard shortcut, or click the toolbar icon to trigger a fact check. It's that simple.
